Germany is a quiet tea country
Germany drinks less tea than Britain, but it buys tea with real care, and the calendars show it.
The ones we review come from a supermarket favourite, a Berlin design label and a couple of other brands, one of which packs tea into glass jars. Hardly two of them look alike.
Anyone searching for a Tee-Adventskalender usually wants one of two things: loose tea worth drinking, or a pretty organic box to give. Both exist here.
What varies is how honest the labels are and how far the shop will post the box.
Every fact below comes from our own review of each calendar. Prices are the euro prices the shops listed when we checked.

The German shortlist
Who each calendar suits, based on our reviews.
A design object first
MEIN GENUSS
MEIN GENUSS Tea Advent Calendar
MEIN GENUSS: 24 loose teas in screw-cap glass jars inside a matt black box, assembled by hand in Bavaria. White, green, chai and rooibos all appear. No organic claim.
Easy and sociable
Meßmer
Meßmer Tea Advent Calendar
Meßmer: two identical bags behind every door, so two people can share one calendar. Fruit and herbal only, all of it flavoured, for €22.99.
For someone who likes design
Paper & Tea
Paper & Tea Advent Calendar
Paper & Tea: 24 organic loose-leaf teas in wrapped sachets, three exclusive winter teas and two scratch-off tickets.
Organic on a small budget
Yogi Tea
Yogi Tea Organic Christmas Advent Calendar
Yogi Tea: 24 organic Ayurvedic-style tea bags, spice-forward and mostly herbal. One of the cheapest organic calendars we review.
Loose tea or tea bags
Two of the German calendars are loose tea through and through.
MEIN GENUSS uses small glass jars, which keep the tea sealed and stay useful once December is over, and Paper & Tea wraps its 24 loose-leaf teas in sachets, so think teapot, not mug.
Meßmer and Yogi are the tea bag options, and they are the ones to pick when the recipient owns no strainer.
With loose tea, a simple infuser belongs in the gift. It costs little and saves the first morning.
Organic and caffeine-free: read the small print
Bio on the box does not always mean organic in every door, so read the claim tea by tea. Paper & Tea sells its calendar as organic and Yogi Tea is certified organic, while MEIN GENUSS and Meßmer make no organic claim.
Caffeine is just as uneven. Meßmer has no black or green tea at all. MEIN GENUSS offers herbal and rooibos doors but also white and green tea, so check the doors if the box is meant for evenings.
- Organic throughout: Paper & Tea and Yogi.
- No organic claim: MEIN GENUSS and Meßmer.
- Fruit and herbal only: Meßmer.
Delivery to Germany, Austria and beyond
Inside Germany every shop here delivers, mostly by DHL. MEIN GENUSS is free from €50 and Meßmer from €25, which a single €22.99 calendar just misses.
Austria is served by MEIN GENUSS (€14.95), which stops there. For Meßmer, read the shipping page first to confirm the delivery countries.
Outside the German-speaking market, look at Paper & Tea, which sells through its own web shop and P&T stores, or at our wider guide to European calendars.
Not a calendar: a German gift set
If December has already started, or the recipient does not care for countdowns, this set carries the same brand without the doors.
Caffeine-free winter box
Meßmer
Meßmer Wintertee Collection Box
Meßmer Wintertee Collection Box: 180 bags across twelve caffeine-free winter flavours, big enough for a family or an office.
Before you order
- Order by early November. Meßmer calls its calendar limited.
- Check that the shop delivers to your country, especially outside Germany and Austria.
- Add an infuser if you pick loose tea.
- Read the organic claim tea by tea, not only the name on the box.
- Look for caffeinated doors if the tea is meant for evenings.
Common questions

For a design-led box of loose tea, MEIN GENUSS. For an organic box with Berlin design, Paper & Tea. For an easy, sociable box at a low price, Meßmer.

Paper & Tea is the clearest one: it sells its calendar as organic, with 24 loose-leaf teas. Yogi Tea is certified organic as well, in tea bags.
Which German calendar is caffeine-free?
Meßmer comes closest: every door is fruit or herbal tea, with no black or green tea. MEIN GENUSS has herbal and rooibos doors, but white and green tea appear too.
Do these shops deliver outside Germany?
Delivery stays close to home. MEIN GENUSS delivers only to Germany and Austria. For Meßmer, confirm the delivery country at checkout.
When should I order?
Early November at the latest. Meßmer calls its calendar limited, and DHL delivery inside Germany takes a few working days, so leave some room before 1 December.
