Overview
There is no countdown here, only a very large box of winter flavours. Meßmer dates itself to 1852, when Eduard Meßmer opened a delicatessen in Baden-Baden, and the house now packs twelve winter teas into one box, 15 envelopes of each, 180 bags in total. Ten are fruit infusions built mostly on apple, rosehip and hibiscus: Zimt-Pflaume, Winterpunsch, Bratapfel, Herzerwärmer, Schneewunder, Himmelszauber, Wintermagie, Zimtschnecke, Apfelstrudel and Waldbeere.
The other two, Gebrannte Mandeln and Wintertraum, are rooibos blends. The ingredient lists show how they differ: Winterpunsch has apple at 37% with cinnamon and orange peel at 10% each, Zimtschnecke has cinnamon at 15%, Herzerwärmer carries cranberry juice granulate, and Waldbeere lists five different berries. There is no black or green tea, so the whole box is caffeine-free.
Meßmer sells it as a gift for tea lovers and for offices. The shop lists it at €39.99 with free shipping from €25.
Taste & variety
Twelve names that read like a Christmas market stall, and an ingredient table more disciplined than they are. Apples and hibiscus carry most of it: Winterpunsch and Wintermagie are 37% apple, Bratapfel 29%. Apfelstrudel lists no cinnamon at all, just apple, rosehip, orange peel, two kinds of hibiscus and flavouring.
Cinnamon is loudest in Zimtschnecke at 15% and Wintertraum at 14%. The two rooibos blends are the outliers: Gebrannte Mandeln is 68% rooibos with cinnamon, chicory root and flavouring, and Wintertraum adds orange peel, roasted rice and carob.
Herzerwärmer, Himmelszauber and Schneewunder bring cranberry, apricot and sour cherry into their lists as juice granulate or powder, and Waldbeere is the berry cup.
Packaging & gift appeal
The box holds 180 bags in aroma-protective envelopes, 15 for each flavour, which is a pantry item more than a table centrepiece. Meßmer markets it as a gift-ready mix of its most popular winter teas, for tea lovers and also for offices.
The practical move is to sort the envelopes into a basket or a wooden box as soon as it is opened, one flavour per section, so that the household chooses by mood and not by whatever surfaced from the bottom.
The envelopes matter here: a box this size stays open until February, and each bag is sealed against the air in the meantime.
